Port Fairy residents have long been aware that they share their town (in harmony, happily) with a Black Wallaby population. It is not uncommon to spot them in various locations around the historic seaside town. However it is of surprise to discover one so comfortable with the surrounding ocean as this one on Port Fairy's Griffith Island. The Black Wallaby is a solitary animal that does not move in "mobs" like its close relation the kangaroo.
